The Skocdopole family has been in the construction business as far back as 1929 when founder Charles Skocdopole was a road foreman for the Municipal District of Dublin, just east of the town of Stettler, Alberta.

Charles bought some equipment and started clearing, breaking land and doing road construction, which was the start of his long career in the construction business. From that early start, Skocdopole Construction has continued to grow and undergo many changes over the years and in the 1950's the company turned its attention to the oil fields of Alberta where there was a requirement for pipeline, seismic and drilling operations.

In 1964, Skocdopole Construction Ltd. was incorporated and was deeply involved with the early history of rural natural gas installation and the plowing of PVC and polyethylene pipe. Charles, Glen and Ron were some of the pioneers in the use of pipe ploughing systems within Alberta for pipeline installations.

The Skocdopole ploughing systems represented cutting edge technology in its day as it provided a faster and less costly installation of rural gas networks over ditching systems. The plough system was popular with the farmers and gas line companies as there was little ground disturbance to their property and ease of installation. Skocdopole Construction Ltd. has installed over 40,000 Kilometres of gas lines throughout the province of Alberta since its incorporation.

November, 2002 saw Member of Parliament Bob Mills present Charles Skocdopole with the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal of Honour for his contributions to the growth and development of the province of Alberta in the 1950's and 1960's.

In 2001 the third generation of Skocdopole's, Steven and Cliff assumed the operation of the family business.

In 2008 Steve resigned from the Company to pursue other interests.

Skocdopole Construction Ltd. continues to grow in the oil and gas construction business and ploughing of polyethylene pipe, plastic, composite, and aluminum coiled pipe. Applications include well site gas gathering systems, rural natural gas installations, fluids & water, fibre optics, utilities, telephone and power cables.
