Skocdopole Construction Ltd. utilizes a unique track type plough system for pipeline and utility installations. The Skocdopole Plough Train consists of one plough cat that is pulled by one or two winch cats. (See photos below) Most pipe and cable materials are shipped to job site location on large round reels, which are 8 to 12 feet in diameter. The Skocdopole Plough Train method is unique in that the pipe reel mounts onto a reel holder which is located behind and above the hydraulic ripper/pipe chute. The pipe comes off the reel in its pre-curved state and is loaded into the plough/pipe chute and placed into the ground without over stressing, stretching or reverse bending the coiled pipe. Many of our competitors reverse or "S" bend the pipe into the pipe chute which can cause pipe stress and/or stretching of thin wall coiled pipe. Skocdopole's plough train low stress method becomes a real advantage when the temperature drops below zero as the pipe will remain curled up tight on the reels in the cold weather (we can plough in pipe at temperatures up to 30 below Celsius without stress or damage to the pipe). When pipe reels are changed, the pipe ends are fused together and the plough train continues down the right of way without pulling out of the ground. Other advantages to the Skocdopole Plough Train system are:
Skocdopole Construction Ltd. also utilizes rubber tired pipe ploughs and chain trenchers for short runs or sensitive ground areas. Ideally suited for smaller diameter pipe and cable applications rather than our track type plough system with an overall cost savings to the customer over ditching methods.
